There has recently been a major outbreak of Legionnaires’ disease in Belgium with many people hospitalised and even some deaths. This disease is preventable and therefore companies should take actions to prevent it occuring on their sites.
In the UK there is legislation and guidance on preventing infections from Legionella bacteria, these documents are called:
- Legionnaires’ disease. The control of legionella bacteria in water systems. Approved Code of Practice and guidance. Commonly called L8.
- Legionnaires’ disease. Technical Guidance. HSG274, parts 1, 2 and 3.
These documents are freely available from the HSE website. Collaton Consultancy offer bespoke training covering these documents and how to prevent Legionnaires’ disease. We also offer expert online training on this subject through this website.
The course can be found at http://onlinetraining.blog/health-and-safety-courses/.
